Romeo has now come full circle in expressing his Filipino heritage as a performer. As a child, he was part of the Filipino Canadian Drum and Bugle Corps. Romeo then moved to the theatre, performing in countless plays and musicals, most recently with The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of UBC and APPLAUSE! Musicals Society. Also a singer and an instrumentalist (playing the piano, clarinet and saxophone), Romeo has now turned to dance as a form of expression. Since 2004, he has trained in ballet and traditional folk dance with Tropak Ukrainian Dance Theatre, having just performed in the 2006 Las Vegas International Folk Festival. The 2006 season marks Romeo’s first year with Kababayang Pilipino. Romeo still continues to perform with both dance troupes, but is exceptionally proud to explore the unique and diverse culture that can only be experienced through Filipino folk dance.
