Like most epic stories, Rhoel’s story began with a girl. He met this girl when he attended a show of his brothers who danced with her in another Filipino cultural dance troupe. As he watched, Rhoel soon fell in love. At first he watched the dancer and her movements. He noticed the costumes, then the dances themselves and got lost in the music. Suddenly he found himself transported to another world in a different time. Rhoel had seen the way and soon took his place on stage. But as in any love story the hero sometimes looses his way and Rhoel had forgotten about dance for a time. A few years later in 1993, a new Filipino youth organization was recruiting talent for a local show. He initially joined KP’s cast in 1993 as an actor, landing the role of "New Immigrant." It was during these rehearsals that Rhoel rediscovered his love for Filipino dance. From the time when he first witnessed Filipino dance, it has since shown him the world. And he has shown the world the beauty of Filipino culture. Although that girl has since worn many faces, Rhoel’s one true love has stayed pure.
