Patrick’s journey towards the Filipino cultural arts and Kababayang Pilipino is one of self-discovery. Growing up in Canada, Patrick remembers listening to old cassette tapes of his father playing guitar in the Philippines with a group of musicians to Harana (or serenade) a woman. The strong feelings they put into their music struck a chord within Patrick; and from that time it seemed only natural that he would someday attempt to exude that same intensity into the arts. Patrick auditioned for KP as a dancer in 2006. Prior to that time, Patrick has spent the past few years developing his musical background, particularly with singing vocals on original studio-recorded tracks with his friends. Although he has not received any formal dance training, he has been exposed to ballroom, Latin, and hip-hop dance for some casual performances. Patrick hopes to bring that same intensity which inspired him into a new generation of KP.
